Our homeland witnessed the worst ever storm in 40 years, on 24th September, displacing over 450,000 people and stripping them of everything. In the eary morning of August 30,2009 Sunday at 4am,several members of TORCH headed towards Botolan Zambales where the evacuation center for 9,000 families affected by typhoon Kiko is located. Upon reaching the site,they were welcomed by the RED CROSS ZAMBALES CHAPTER.250 families formed their line and eagerly waited for their packages courtesy of FORAC and TORCH.The packages contains used clothing,rice and foodstuff.The blankets and comforters were given to the children and babies.Its sad to see babies sleeping on the concrete floor with only thin blankets on their backs. The big question is: UNTIL WHEN THEY WILL STAY LIKE THIS? No house,no job,no food.They are not a story of the unemployed or destitute.They are victims of a calamity.Its like a punishment for a crime they did not commit,its like a death in another form. FORAC is once again renewing its dedication for public service,to make life easier for the unfortunate ones.
